To promote Studio Solas’s AI-powered video production service, a series of three short vertical video ads was created specifically for social platforms. The strategy was to market the service using the same technology it offers: cinematic advertising content generated through AI-assisted production and guided by human creative direction.
The campaign targeted small and medium-sized businesses that often want high-quality video advertising but are constrained by the cost and time associated with traditional production. The ads were designed for vertical-first platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, using strong visual hooks and cinematic imagery to capture attention quickly in fast-scrolling feeds. Each video demonstrated how AI-generated environments and motion could produce striking commercial visuals in seconds, positioning Studio Solas as a creative studio able to deliver fast, affordable and visually distinctive advertising.
The campaign generated 3,000–5,000 views per ad, delivering approximately 9,000–15,000 impressions among audiences in Scotland. During the campaign period, activity contributed to an estimated 20% uplift in inbound enquiries, demonstrating the effectiveness of short-form vertical video for generating awareness and interest in the service. The campaign also acted as a practical demonstration of the Studio Solas approach: combining AI tools with creative direction to produce high-impact advertising content quickly.
Voice Generation: ElevenLabs was used to produce a custom AI voiceover with a cold, factual tone that fit the documentary’s mood.
AI Avatar Presentation: Synthesia provided an on-screen avatar to deliver parts of the narration, enabling consistent visual delivery without live filming.
Video Scene Creation: Veo 3 was used to generate stylised recreations and atmospheric clips via prompt based video generation, avoiding reliance on copyrighted material.
Static Image Design: ChatGPT tools were used to generate supporting images and backgrounds in line with the true crime aesthetic.
Prompt Engineering: Prompts were refined to control visual tone, pacing, and thematic consistency across platforms.
Post-Production (Manual): All editing, motion graphics, music, and sound design were created and mixed manually on Final Cut Pro to elevate the AI-generated assets and give the final piece cohesion and polish.
Final Output: A 3 minute AI supported video essay built for social media. This prototype demonstrates how AI tools can accelerate production, while retaining creative oversight and quality through manual post.
Voice Generation: Narration performed using ElevenLabs AI, simulating a clear, engaging VO in a classic documentary tone.
Video Generation: Veo 3 and Midjourney were used to create short clips simulating sequences from the cancelled film, based on descriptive prompts of Zemeckis’s planned performance capture style and 3D environments.
Image Creation: Still frames and concept art were created using ChatGPT image capabilities, referencing period accurate designs and imagined sequences .
Prompt Crafting: All visuals were built using carefully structured prompts tailored to match the tone, detail, and design aesthetic of the development work by Image Movers Digital.
Creative Execution: editing, motion graphics, music choices, and sound FX were done by me. The result is a video that not only analyses what might have been but uses AI to visualise the alternate future of Yellow Submarine in a way no archival footage could.
